This Amsterdam sandwich guide is organized around the fillings I tried. Compare smoky pastrami with mustard mayo, bavette cheesesteak with jalapeños, wild boar with coleslaw, and a Dutch kroket on a soft roll. Follow each review for the full order and use the address link for the location covered.

Amsterdam · Pastrami and hot chicken
Sandwichshop Amsterdam
The grilled pastrami came with caramelized onions, melted cheddar, lettuce, pickles and mustard mayo. Smoky meat, sweet onions and tangy pickles made it one of my favorite pastrami combinations. I also tried hot chicken with cheddar and homemade curry mayo, for a creamier, gently spiced alternative.
Amsterdam · Cheesesteak and chicken katsu
Broodje Popov Spui
The Philly cheesesteak was the star of our Spui order, with tender bavette, caramelized onions, cheddar and jalapeños. We also tried pastrami with mustard sauce and pickles, plus crispy chicken katsu on brioche with sriracha mayo and katsu sauce. There are three distinct fillings to compare in the full review.
Amsterdam · Wild boar in Oud-West
De Predetariër Oud-West
The mortadella special combined wild boar with pesto, arugula, pistachios and plant-based stracciatella. Its creamy filling and nutty crunch contrasted with the pulled wild boar sandwich, which came with BBQ flavors and homemade coleslaw. The review covers the De Clercqstraat location in Oud-West.
Amsterdam · A Dutch sandwich classic
Eetsalon Van Dobben
For a different kind of sandwich, my Van Dobben order was a broodje kroket with mustard on a soft white roll. The contrast was crisp outside and creamy inside. Filet americain topped with egg made a second classic alongside it.
