For Dutch food in Amsterdam, my notes range from a simple sandwich stop to a longer comfort-food meal. Van Dobben is here for broodje kroket, A. van Wees for soup, snacks and fondue, and De Vlieger for a café spread. Choose a quick bite or a table to settle into.

Amsterdam · Broodje kroket and filet americain
Eetsalon Van Dobben
The broodje kroket combined a crisp shell and creamy center with a soft white roll and mustard. I also tried filet americain topped with egg. This is the simple sandwich stop in the guide, built around two Dutch classics rather than a long multi-course order.
Amsterdam · Pea soup, borrel snacks and fondue
Proeflokaal A. van Wees
Our meal at A. van Wees started with pea soup, smoked wild boar sausage and rye bread, followed by bitterballen, kaassoufflés and cheese. Zeeland mussels and a rich four-Dutch-cheese fondue made this the larger comfort-food meal in the collection. Warm apple crumble and cheesecake finished the order.
Amsterdam · A café meal in De Baarsjes
Café De Vlieger
At De Vlieger’s reopening, we shared roasted bone marrow, mussels in garlic-herb butter and crispy kibbeling with remoulade. Slow-cooked steak with mash and port sauce followed, alongside rookworst with hutspot, bacon and gravy. My review describes that reopening meal rather than a guarantee of today’s menu.
