This is my matcha route through Amsterdam, from drinks to tea-flavored desserts. OMA brings pandan into the glass, Miyabi pairs matcha with banana and crème brûlée, and Meili takes it into drinks, cake and cookies. Each stop has a different reason to visit, so choose whether you want a drink, something sweet or both.

Amsterdam · Pandan matcha
OMA
I tried OMA’s pandan matcha at its café pop-up near Vondelpark. Earthy matcha met fragrant fresh pandan syrup. My other drink was Salty Kopi Arenga, a double espresso with milk and salted gula aren syrup, so this is a useful stop when your table wants both matcha and coffee. Check the pop-up’s current schedule before visiting.
Amsterdam · Matcha drinks and desserts
Miyabi Matcha
At Miyabi on Zeedijk, the matcha banana crème brûlée was sweet and creamy, with banana and custardy notes. I also tried a soft matcha crème brûlée crêpe with a creamy filling. Hojicha Earl Grey vanilla foam was the roasted-tea alternative. This is the stop in the collection for pairing tea with dessert.
Amsterdam · Matcha Vienna and pastries
Meili Bakery
Meili’s matcha order went beyond a drink: we had Matcha Vienna, a soft matcha strawberry cake that was not too sweet, and matcha cranberry cookies to take home. The bakery also had savory sandwiches, making it a different kind of matcha stop from a drinks-only counter.
