My Favorite Turkish Food in Amsterdam

Meze and charcoal-grilled kebap at Ali Ocakbaşı, plus a Turkish sharing breakfast at Snob.

My Turkish food coverage in Amsterdam spans a charcoal-grilled dinner and a breakfast spread. The dishes make the distinction clear: meze, lamb and kebap at Ali Ocakbaşı; sucuk, simit, eggs and sharing plates at Snob. Pick the visit that fits your appetite and the time of day.

Amsterdam · Meze, lamb and charcoal grilling

Ali Ocakbaşı

Our dinner moved from smoky abagannuş, spicy atom and creamy Girit Efesi to Gevrek: minced lamb in lavash over eggplant purée with yogurt, garlic and tomato sauce. The mixed grill added Şaşlık, chicken and Ali Kebap. We finished with baklava, künefe, katmer and rice pudding, so there was plenty to share from start to finish.

Amsterdam · Turkish sharing breakfast

Snob Amsterdam

The Bosphorus Sharing Rhapsody brought sucuk, halloumi, simit, dips, vegetables, olives and honey with clotted cream. Our order also included Sucuk Benedict and Çakallı Menemen with tomatoes, garlic and melted cheese. Choose this for the breakfast side of the collection rather than the charcoal-grill dinner.
