These two Chinese food stories take you outside Amsterdam: one to Amstelveen and one to Rotterdam. The locations are deliberately kept separate here, so you can plan the right trip. This is a collection of places I have covered, with specific dishes and setting details, rather than a top-ten ranking or an Amsterdam-only restaurant list.

Amstelveen · Chinese bistro
Feng Bistro
Feng Bistro is set inside a historic windmill in Amstelveen. My coverage included shrimp beancurd, seafood chowder, shredded duck salad, black bean beef, five-spice duck and ribs, followed by a cookie skillet dessert. The setting makes it a distinct story from a city-center dumpling stop.
Rotterdam · Soup dumplings
Nanxiang Soup Dumplings
I was invited to Nanxiang’s Rotterdam grand opening, with lion dances and a sharing menu built around assorted and signature soup dumplings. The opening spread also included scallion oil noodles, mapo tofu, orange chicken and lobster. Read the article for the event context.
