Al pastor and birria de res
We celebrated Mexican Independence Day with al pastor sliced from the trompo and tender birria de res served with consommé. The two gave the taco order different starting points, from the sliced al pastor to the softer beef with its accompanying broth. It was a spread that encouraged trying more than one filling.
Cochinita pibil and Tacos Sonora
Cochinita pibil continued the taco selection, while the shrimp Tacos Sonora brought a crisp seafood option. That crunch was a clear change from the tender birria. Ordering across the range made the meal varied, with the different fillings giving each taco a reason to be on the table.
Pozole, guacamole and the celebration
The special pozole was warm and comforting. Fresh guacamole with onion, tomato and cilantro came with crisp tortilla chips, giving us something to share between tacos. We had spicy margaritas while a live singer brought energy to the evening. That music and the special pozole were part of our Independence Day visit, rather than a promise of the everyday menu.
