Dumpling Wang New York City: Soup dumplings and spicy wontons in LIC

Juicy pork xiao long bao, rich crab-and-pork dumplings and silky chili-oil wontons in Long Island City.

Pork and crab soup dumplings

We tried both the pork xiao long bao and the crab-and-pork soup dumplings. The pork dumplings were juicy, while the crab-and-pork version brought a richer direction. Ordering both gave us a comparison within the soup dumplings rather than treating the whole section of the menu as one identical choice.

Silky wontons in chili oil

The vegetable-and-pork wontons were silky and coated in spicy chili oil. That soft texture and the heat from the oil made them different from the soup dumplings. They added a spicier part to the order, useful when sharing several plates and wanting something beyond another round of xiao long bao.

Beef pancake, chicken and green beans

The rest of the spread included a crispy beef wrap pancake, tender poached chicken and smoky dry-fried green beans. The pancake added crunch, the chicken a softer contrast, and the beans another smoky, savory element. Together they made this feel like a shared meal rather than a dumpling-only stop.

A note on the Thursday offer

My original caption mentioned free xiao long bao with a $35 spend on Thursdays. That is a detail from the post, not a current price guarantee. Check directly before visiting for a promotion. The dumplings and the variety of sharing dishes are the main reasons this visit belongs in my Long Island City food notes.
